Common issues and fixes
- The compressed PNG is not much smaller than the original.
- PNG is a lossless format, so quality-based compression has limited effect. For dramatic size reduction, convert the PNG to JPG or WebP using the Convert Image tool, which applies lossy compression.
- The compressed image looks blurry or blocky.
- The quality slider is set too low. Try a value above 70 for JPG, where the difference is usually invisible to the eye but the file is still significantly smaller.
- The transparent background turned black after compression.
- JPG does not support transparency — it fills transparent areas with black. Keep PNG or WebP format if you need transparency, or use a solid background color first.
