  3. 3Choose whether to lock the aspect ratio.
  4. 4Click Resize and download the scaled image.

Use cases

  • Resize a photo to meet a specific dimension for a web banner.
  • Scale down a high-resolution image for faster web loading.
  • Create a custom thumbnail size from a full-size photo.

Why use a browser-based resize image?

Resizing an image is one of the simplest operations a browser can do — draw the image to a canvas at new dimensions and re-encode. There is no reason to upload a photo to a server for this, and no reason to install desktop software.

LoveMyFile resizes images locally using the Canvas API. The image is drawn at the target dimensions and re-encoded in the same format (or a different one if you prefer). The original stays on your device, and the resized copy downloads instantly.

The aspect-ratio lock ensures your resized image does not stretch or squash. When the lock is on, changing the width automatically adjusts the height (and vice versa), preserving the original proportions.

Common issues and fixes

The resized image looks stretched.
The aspect-ratio lock is off. Turn it on to preserve the original proportions, or enter width and height values that match the original ratio.
Upscaling made the image blurry.
Scaling up beyond the original resolution cannot add detail that was not there. For best results, use the Upscale Image tool, which uses AI to add plausible detail when enlarging.
The file size did not change after resizing.
If you only changed dimensions slightly, the re-encoded file may be similar in size. For a dramatic size reduction, combine resizing with the Compress Image tool.

Technical details

  • Powered by the Canvas API — pixel data is resampled at the target dimensions.
  • Supports exact pixel dimensions (width × height) or percentage scaling.
  • Aspect-ratio lock keeps proportions when only one dimension is changed.
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP. Output format matches the input by default.
  • Maximum source dimensions: 8,192 × 8,192 pixels.
  • Downscaling uses bilinear resampling for smooth results.

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing reduce image quality?

Scaling down preserves quality well. Scaling up beyond the original resolution will cause some blurriness since the tool cannot add detail that was not in the original image.

Can I resize to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. Enter the exact width and height in pixels. With the aspect-ratio lock on, changing one dimension automatically adjusts the other to preserve proportions.

What is the maximum image size I can resize?

The tool accepts images up to 8,192 × 8,192 pixels and 25 MB. You can scale down to any smaller size; upscaling beyond the original is possible but will reduce sharpness.

Which image formats are supported?

The image tools support JPG, PNG, and WebP, with conversion available between them. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.

Does this upload my file?

No. Your file stays on your device the whole time. LoveMyFile runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server, queued in the cloud, or copied off your computer.

Is this free?

Yes. Every tool is free and unlimited — no account, no paywall, and no daily caps. Because the work happens locally in your browser, there are no per-file or per-page charges.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the tools run entirely in your browser, so you can disconnect from the internet and keep working. AI-powered tools download a small model on first use and then also run offline.
